The 81 mile long Farmington River is located in northwest Connecticut and southwest Massachusetts and its watershed covers 609 square miles. Historically the river played an important role in small-scale manufacturing in towns alongside it, but it is now used mainly for recreation and drinking water. Wildlife including abundant fish, deer, bears, birds, beavers, turtles, and snakes make their homes in it’s path, resulting in the Farmington River as a wildlife sanctuary awaiting exploration for many of it’s hidden treasures.
